How It Works

Step 1: Tru-weigh comes to you

One of the crew-members at Tru-Weigh will arrive with the expertise and knowledge that you desire.

Step 2: your vehicle is placed on pads

Your vehicle is securely placed upon Tru-Weigh’s scales which are positioned by the crew-member.

Step 3: Your vehicle is lifted

A trailer jack is used to lift the vehicle ensuring that every component is weighed sufficiently.

Step 4: Your weight is determined

A special computer calculates your vehicles weight using sensors in the pads and vehicle jack.

Reports

Detailed and accurate reports in vehicle weighing are crucial for several reasons. They provide precise measurements down to a single kilogram, ensuring safety by preventing overloading and maintaining vehicle stability.

These reports help meet legal weight limits, avoiding fines and penalties. Additionally, regular weight monitoring optimises vehicle performance and reduces maintenance costs.

  • Precision: Measures down to a kilogram.
  • Safety: Prevents overloading, ensures stability.
  • Compliance: Meets legal weight limits.
  • Maintenance: Optimises performance, reduces costs.

About TRU-WEIGH

We all want to make our travel as comfortable as possible but in doing this, we can overlook the additional weight when throwing in all those home comforts and modifications. From air fryers, coffee machines, toolboxes or additional water tanks.  It all adds up and before you know it your vehicle(s) are non-compliant, risking a hefty fine or even a road accident.  Worst of all is that insurers will not cover any vehicle which is non-compliant.

Fully qualified and operating a modern technology weighing system which is calibrated annually,  we will provide you with a report detailing –

  • Gross Combination Mass (GCM)
  • Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM)
  • Gross Trailer Mass (GTM)
  • Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM)
  • Tow Ball Downforce (TBD)

Vehicle Weighs Explained

The maximum total weight of a vehicle and its trailer, including all cargo and passengers, as specified by the manufacturer. Knowing the GCM ensures safe towing by preventing overloading, which can lead to accidents or vehicle damage.

Cartoon Depicting Gross Combination Mass (Both Trailer and Vehicle)

The maximum weight a vehicle can carry, including its own weight, passengers, cargo, and any accessories. Understanding the GVM helps maintain vehicle safety and performance by preventing overloading, which can strain the vehicle’s components.

Cartoon Depicting Gross Vehicle Mass (The Car's Weight)

The maximum weight that can be imposed on a trailer’s axle when fully loaded and coupled to the towing vehicle. Being aware of the GTM ensures the trailer’s axles and tyres are not overloaded, promoting safe towing and preventing mechanical failures.

Cartoon Depicting Gross Trailer Mass (The Weight of the Trailer)

The total weight of a trailer when fully loaded, including the trailer’s own weight, the full load and the weight of the tow ball. Knowing the ATM helps ensure the trailer is within safe weight limits, preventing overloading and enhancing towing stability.

A cartoon depicting Aggregate Trailer Mass (Trailer and Towball Weight)

The downward force exerted by the trailer on the tow ball of the towing vehicle. Understanding the TBD ensures proper weight distribution between the trailer and towing vehicle, enhancing towing stability and safety.
